Six cars, declared as humanitarian aid for the army, were brought through customs without paying mandatory fees and then sold to civilians. The state incurred losses of almost UAH 1.1 million, according to the press service of the National Police in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.
The scheme relied on forged documents. Among them were fictitious guarantee letters allegedly from a military unit, stating the need for vehicles for servicemen. Based on these papers, the man brought the cars through customs control as humanitarian aid for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine without any customs payments.
The documents were prepared in advance, investigators found. All six cars, after being imported, ended up not with military units but with civilian buyers.
On August 20, Kryvyi Rih police informed the suspect of suspicion of illegal import and sale of cars intended for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
