Violation of fishing rules in Dnipropetrovsk region can result not only in a fine. If prohibited gear is involved, part 4 of Article 85 of the Code of Administrative Offenses is applied, and for significant damage to aquatic biological resources, criminal liability under Article 249 of the Criminal Code is possible.
In Dnipropetrovsk region, the spawning ban has ended, and the amateur fishing season continues. The Dnipropetrovsk Fisheries Protection Patrol reminded about the current rules for catching fish and crayfish.
What is prohibited during fishing
nets of any type;
electric fishing rods;
explosive and poisonous substances;
piercing fishing gear - except for a speargun during spearfishing;
any fishing methods that lead to mass destruction of aquatic biological resources.
Permitted gear includes float and bottom fishing rods, spinning rods, feeder gear, zherlitsy (tip-ups), and other hook tackle. Limit: no more than seven hooks simultaneously or a spinning rod with one artificial lure.
The daily catch limit is up to 3 kg of fish, plus one individual if its size exceeds the minimum allowable. It is forbidden to catch fish that have not reached the established size. If a species listed in the Red Book of Ukraine is caught, it must be immediately released without damage.
River crayfish can be caught after the seasonal ban ends, but within the norms. The daily limit is 30 individuals. The minimum allowed size is 11 cm in the Dnipro reservoirs and 10 cm in other inland waters of Ukraine. The size is measured along the back - from the line connecting the middle of the eyes to the edge of the central tail plate.
The patrol emphasizes: the rules are needed not only to avoid fines but also to preserve water bodies after recreation.
