Parathlete Kyrylo Poyda from Zhovti Vody became the European champion in para swimming in 2026. In the final 100-meter breaststroke swim in the SB7 category, he finished first with a result of 1:14.95, simultaneously setting a new continental record.
The previous European achievement in this discipline was 1:16.43. Poyda improved it by 1.48 seconds - a significant lead by elite para swimming standards.
Where and when the championship took place
The World Para Swimming European Championships 2026 were held from September 7 to 12 in the Turkish city of Kocaeli. About 400 athletes from 38 countries participated in the competition. The Ukrainian national team was represented by 41 para-athletes.
