The former director of one of Dnipro's communal enterprises has been notified of suspicion of abuse of office. Law enforcement officers established that during the procurement of sports equipment, the official acted in the interests of the supplier, not the community.
The exercise machines were intended for installation at one of the city's sports grounds. However, the contract price turned out to be artificially inflated – because of this, the budget of the city of Dnipro lost almost 1 million UAH.
What threatens the suspect
The investigation qualified the actions of the former head as abuse of office in the interests of the exercise machine manufacturer. After the scheme was uncovered, he was officially notified of suspicion.
The sanction of the relevant article provides for the following penalties:
imprisonment for a term of 3 to 6 years;
deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of up to 3 years;
a fine of 500 to 1,000 non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens.
The case materials were formed by the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor's Office. The pre-trial investigation is currently ongoing.
