Two men were detained on June 5, 2026, during a routine raid by inspectors of the Dnipropetrovsk Fisheries Protection Patrol. The offenders were discovered on the Kamianka Reservoir near Pavlivka — they were fishing from an inflatable boat using three prohibited nets.
The total number of illegally caught fish was 467 individuals with a total weight of 179 kg. Among the confiscated fish:
silver carp — 461 pcs.
sazan — 3 pcs.
bream — 1 pc.
roach — 1 pc.
white bream — 1 pc.
According to experts' calculations, the damage caused to Ukraine's fishing industry amounted to UAH 744,736.
Protocols were drawn up against both detainees under Part 4 of Art. 85 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of Ukraine — gross violation of fishing rules. An investigative and operational group of the National Police of Ukraine arrived at the scene to document the offense and seized the boat, nets, and fish.
The issue of initiating criminal proceedings under Art. 249 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is currently being considered.
The patrol urges citizens to strictly adhere to environmental legislation. The use of prohibited fishing gear destroys the aquatic ecosystem and entails both administrative and criminal liability. You can report poaching by calling the hotline: 096-400-02-50.
