In Kamianske, a police lieutenant has been notified of suspicion after he injured a civilian with a service vehicle. The incident occurred on September 1st at approximately 4:30 PM in the courtyard of a residential block: while reversing, the car's wheels ran over a man who was lying behind the vehicle. The law enforcement officer is charged under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - violation of traffic rules, which caused serious bodily harm.
The sanction for this norm provides for up to 8 years of imprisonment.
How the events unfolded
That day, patrol officers were checking the military registration documents of one of the residents. The check escalated into an argument between the police and the people nearby. In the midst of the conflict, the lieutenant got behind the wheel of the service car and reversed - at that moment, one of the participants in the quarrel was directly behind the car. The injured person was taken to the hospital: a forensic medical examination recorded numerous injuries and classified them as serious bodily harm. The police officer himself went on sick leave after the incident.
Who is handling the case
The investigation adheres to the version that the lieutenant did not see the man at the moment of starting the movement. The investigation is being carried out by investigators of the State Bureau of Investigation with the assistance of the leadership of the National Police. Procedural supervision of the case is entrusted to the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor's Office.
