Law enforcement officers have submitted a criminal case to the court against a 21-year-old resident of Dnipro, who is suspected of illegal acquisition and storage of kratom. The woman has been charged under Part 3 of Article 309 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The plant leaves were found in three different places in the apartment: behind the sofa in the bedroom, in the kitchen, and in the suspect's personal bag. The search was conducted in the apartment in the Novokodatsky district of Dnipro.
What is kratom and why is it prohibited
Kratom is a tropical plant, the crushed leaves of which are used as a psychoactive substance. In Ukraine, this substance is officially included in the list of prohibited drugs, and its acquisition, storage, and distribution are criminally punishable.
Forensic examination confirmed that the seized substance belongs to narcotic drugs, the circulation of which is prohibited in Ukraine. The case materials have already been sent to court.
