On the evening of July 25, around 10:30 PM, in the Soborny district of Dnipro, three intoxicated women attacked a resident named Maria. The attackers acted in concert: the first delivered several punches behind the ear and under the neck and snatched the phone from her hands, the second grabbed her backpack and threw it to the ground, and the third pulled the victim by her hair and head. Even after the police arrived, the women did not stop — they continued to try to run towards Maria.
How the conflict began
That evening, Maria went outside to meet friends. Nearby, on a bench, sat a company that was consuming alcohol and behaving defiantly. Deciding to record this on her phone camera, the woman turned on the recording — and this very moment provoked the attack: the three instantly rushed at her. Maria's friends tried to protect her, but they themselves received scratches, and one of them had his clothes torn.
Threats and health consequences
During the attack, one of the women explicitly told Maria: "if you call the police, we will kill you, we will find you." Despite the threat, the victim contacted law enforcement and filed a statement — about the beating and threats of physical violence. In parallel, she underwent an examination by doctors who recorded bodily injuries: pain in the head and ear, a bump, redness, and hemorrhages.
The investigation reached a dead end
The case was handed over to the district police officer, but the investigation effectively stalled. The reason was insufficient evidence. There is no video recording of the direct moment of the blows: the phone was snatched from her hands at the very beginning of the skirmish. Maria has not yet undergone the medical examination required to qualify the actions under the article on bodily harm.
The situation was complicated by a counter-statement: the attackers themselves contacted the police, claiming that Maria was the initial aggressor. Only after meeting with the department's leadership was the victim informed that the case could theoretically be opened as hooliganism.
A problematic spot in the district
According to Maria, this corner of the Soborny district has long been a hotbed of violations: every evening, people gather here to drink alcohol, use prohibited substances, and systematically violate the curfew. After the attack, the women involved in the incident did not leave — they remained at the same spot, continuing to violate the curfew.
