The Dnipro District Department of the State Institution "Dnipropetrovsk Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine" has published the results of laboratory tests of water quality at beaches and popular recreation areas. According to the inspection conducted at the end of June, only three bodies of water were recognized as fully suitable for swimming.
Safe for swimming are:
Novomykolaivka Quarry (Novomykolaivka village, Dnipro district);
Svyniache reservoir (Kytaihrod village, Tsarychanka community);
Yelyzavetivka Quarry "Blue Lake" (Yelyzavetivka village, Tsarychanka community).
At most city beaches and spontaneous recreation areas, laboratories found an exceedance of sanitary and chemical indicators. Deviations from the norms were recorded in the following locations:
beach in Sahaidak Park;
beach in Prydniprovsky Park;
beach on Monastyrsky Island;
water area of the Rowing Canal;
mouth of the Samara where it flows into the Dnipro;
quarry on the Chervony Kamin massif;
spit on the Chervony Kamin massif;
canal on the Frunzensky massif;
Moskovske Lake on the Frunzensky massif;
Dnipro bank on the Sonyachny massif;
spit on Heroes Avenue;
area of Diyivsky (Sukachivsky) forest park near Taromske massif;
Orel River near Babaikivka village.
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention notes that in most cases, the detected deviations have a low degree of risk for the population. Experts advise taking into account the results of the research when choosing a place for recreation.
Water quality monitoring in the reservoirs of the Dnipropetrovsk region will continue until September. The results of new inspections are promised to be published monthly.
