Cyberpolice and investigators in the Dnipropetrovsk region have identified an individual who organized an online fraud scheme in October 2025 through a phishing website. The suspect is a resident of Kryvyi Rih, the regional police report.
According to the investigation, the man created a website that visually copied the interface of a popular online platform using artificial intelligence. He sought victims in thematic messenger chats: he sent messages allegedly from customer support, promising bonuses and offering to follow a phishing link where they had to enter their phone number and a one-time verification code. In this way, the suspect gained access to other people's accounts.
After seizing accounts, he contacted the victims' contacts on their behalf, asking to borrow money. The funds were transferred to third-party cards used to withdraw the money.
Investigators have charged the man under Part Four of Article 190 and Article 361 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The final number of victims and the extent of the damage are still being determined.
