In Dnipro, police detained a suspect in an armed robbery of a patient at one of the city's hospitals. According to law enforcement, the incident occurred on July 6 in the Chechelivskyi district.
The assailant entered the hospital through an unlocked door, where he threatened a 68-year-old patient with an object resembling a pistol, struck him with a wooden stick, and took two mobile phones. After that, he fled the scene.
Police quickly identified and apprehended the suspect. As reported by the Criminal Investigation Department, he turned out to be a 46-year-old serviceman who had unauthorizedly left his military unit (AWOL).
The investigation revealed that the object the attacker used to intimidate the patient was a pistol-lighter — a toy product that only outwardly copied a real weapon.
Investigators charged the detainee under Part 4 of Article 187 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (robbery). The sanction of the article, under martial law, provides for imprisonment for a term of 8 to 15 years. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
