Pupils of Kamianske Children and Youth Sports School No. 1 won seven medals at the Ukrainian Canoe Sprint Championship – two gold and five silver. This result helped the Dnipropetrovsk region team finish second in the team standings.
Andriy Tonkonog brought home the most awards – four. He won in K-1 at 500 m and K-4 at 500 m, and took silver in K-1 at 1000 m and K-1 at 200 m.
Anna Omelchenko climbed to the second step of the podium three times: in K-1 at 1000 m, K-4 at 500 m, and K-4 at 200 m. In K-1 at 500 m, she finished fourth.
Maksym Mykhailichenko took fourth place in C-4 at 500 m and 200 m. Vitaliy Lutsenko finished seventh in mixed canoe at 500 m.
The competitions were held in Uman from August 4 to 9 among athletes born in 2010-2011 and 2012-2013. In total, 582 athletes from 23 regions competed for medals.
The athletes were trained by coaches Hryhoriy Kolomoiets, Viktor Myronov, and Anatoliy Hrabko.
