On August 15, 2024, fares on a number of Dnipro minibuses increased to UAH 25, and no public decision from the city council on this matter was released. However, back in April, the city council's executive committee, by decision No. 2-28/4, set precisely this maximum fare for city bus routes.
For residents, this is the second increase in three months: in May 2026, the price rose to UAH 23. No one warned about the new cost – people found out in the morning, after already boarding the minibus.
The April decision No. 2-28/4 contains the following wording: "To establish maximum tariffs for passenger and luggage transportation services on public city bus routes in Dnipro, operating in normal mode, which are not classified as state (regional) orders, - UAH 25." Carriers could rely on this document when reviewing the price.
Carriers explained the reason for the increase as rising fuel, spare parts, and maintenance costs, as well as other expenses for bus upkeep.
The price increase also affected the region
From August 15, some minibuses in the Dnipropetrovsk region also reported fare increases.
In Kryvyi Rih, private minibuses posted announcements about an increase in fare to 23 hryvnias.
The trip on the Kamianske-Dnipro route will increase from UAH 80 to UAH 100.
The tariff increase will affect suburban routes to the city of Samar, the village of Melioratyvne, and the villages of Cherkaske and Hvardiiske - the administration of the "Left Bank" bus station warned about this in advance.
Residents are outraged that neither the authorities nor the carriers announced the change in advance. Some point out that the fare in Dnipro is now on par with the capital's. The difference is only UAH 2, but daily trips hit the pockets primarily of those living on modest salaries.
Only a month has passed since the first increase, so the full impact of the new tariffs on residents' budgets is not yet felt.
