At 18:00 on August 23, Russia launched a massive strike, primarily targeting the Odesa region.
In the missile component of the attack, the enemy used two Oniks anti-ship missiles, launched from temporarily occupied Crimea, six Kh-31P guided air-launched missiles, and Kh-59 missiles - both latter types launched from the airspace over the Black Sea.
The drone component included 143 Shahed-type attack UAVs, a third of which were jet-powered, as well as Gerbera, S8000 Banderol, and Parodiya decoy drones.

As of 09:00 on August 24, the data is preliminary - air defense forces neutralized a total of five missiles and 109 drones. One out of two Oniks missiles, two Kh-31P, one Kh-59, and two S8000 Banderol missiles were shot down or suppressed. All 109 drones were also neutralized.
Interceptions occurred in the south, north, and east of the country.
The repulsion of the attack was provided by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
Hits were recorded in 22 locations, and the fall of shot-down targets in five more. Some missiles did not reach their targets; information regarding them is being clarified.
