The Danish company Søens Tech has developed the Shadowfin underwater attack drone, focusing on the specific needs of Ukraine. The apparatus is currently undergoing testing in Danish waters, and after their completion, the first sample is planned to be transferred to the Ukrainian side for field trials. Shadowfin is positioned as a relatively inexpensive platform for striking enemy ships, ports, bridges, and coastal infrastructure.
The design of the apparatus combines underwater placement with a mast protruding above the surface, on which a GPS antenna, cameras, and additional sensors can be installed. Provision is also made for the possibility of mounting a snorkel for a diesel engine – according to the developers' idea, this can significantly increase the cruising range.

Shadowfin was first publicly shown at the international defense exhibition DALO Industry Days 2026. It was there that plans to transfer the first sample to Ukraine became known.
Emphasis on mass production and stealth
The low price is the result of a conscious design decision: the hull is based on a standard 500 mm diameter fiberglass pipe with a minimal number of complex components. Søens Tech expects that this approach will allow the production of apparatuses in significant quantities and their use in swarms.
Underwater placement, according to the developers, significantly complicates the detection of Shadowfin compared to conventional surface drones. However, all declared characteristics remain at the level of technical specifications – the apparatus has not yet received any confirmation in real combat conditions.
