Kamyanske police visited city parks and squares to talk to teenagers and adults. The reason is the growing popularity of fountains as places for children's entertainment in hot weather and the associated safety risks.
They identified three main dangers posed by city fountains:
Hidden equipment underwater — pumps, lighting, and live cables can pose a risk of electric shock.
Slippery structures and surfaces, as running on wet granite or concrete often ends in falls and fractures.
Chemicals and bacteria in technical water, which circulates in a loop. Dirt constantly gets into it, so swimming can cause infections or allergies.
The police urged parents to strengthen control over their children's leisure activities. They emphasize: children should not be left unattended near water or allowed to walk alone in high-risk areas.
According to the police, safety during holidays is the responsibility of adults, as they are the ones who can protect a child from accidents.
