The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved a decision to allocate 555 million hryvnias in the form of a state loan to the Eastern Mining and Processing Plant in Zhovti Vody, Kamianka district. The financing will continue until the end of 2027. This was reported by Mykola Lukashuk, head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council.
SkhidGZK (Eastern Mining and Processing Plant) is the only enterprise in Ukraine engaged in uranium ore mining and the production of natural uranium concentrate. The plant is among the top ten largest uranium mining facilities in the world and is the largest in Europe.
Lukashuk emphasized that the Ministry of Energy is beginning to implement concrete support measures and highly praised this decision. According to him, the stable operation of SkhidGZK is important for the timely payment of wages to employees, replenishing the local budget, and the development of related enterprises in Zhovti Vody and neighboring communities.
555 million UAH is not the complete answer to the plant's problems. But it is a real step to stabilize operations, increase concentrate production to 45 tons per month, and give people confidence. SkhidGZK must operate stably. Then Zhovti Vody will have tax revenues and prospects. And our state will have its own energy support, — noted Mykola Lukashuk.
