The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine has no authority to conduct such inspections and never sends similar letters - this is the official position of the agency. DerzhEnerhoNadzor, for its part, denied any remote analysis of consumption balance in its networks.
Since July 2026, Ukrainians have been receiving emails disguised as official messages from these two bodies. They mention upcoming power outages and suggest clicking a link to review an act or appeal a decision.
The content of the letters is based on specific accusations: supposedly, a critical discrepancy between distributed and accounted power has been found at the consumer's address, and the discrepancy itself has been qualified as unauthorized interference with the electricity meter.
The goal is to scare the person and force them to click on the link. It may lead to a resource for collecting personal data or contain malicious software.
What to do if you receive such a letter
Do not click any links in the letter.
Do not open attached files.
Delete the message immediately.
Reliable information about your personal account, electricity supply, or distribution is provided exclusively by your electricity supplier or distribution system operator.
The Central Energy Company reports that citizens regularly complain about such letters when contacting the hotline. Scammers continue to impersonate state bodies and send fake messages.
