The draft of the new regulation on the Department for Local Self-Government, Internal and Information Policy of the Dnipro City Council does not contain any mention of which executive body will take over the powers regarding work with veterans. At the same time, the document proposes to completely relieve the department of responsibility for veterans of the Russian-Ukrainian war, military personnel, members of their families, as well as families of the deceased and missing.
What veteran support functions are proposed to be removed
organization of legal consultations for veterans;
assistance in returning to civilian life;
work with children of veterans and military personnel;
cooperation with enterprises regarding the employment of veterans;
informing about benefits, compensations, subsidies, and other assistance;
cooperation with charitable foundations and international organizations in the field of veteran support;
participation in the policy of awarding, memorialization, and honoring the memory of combatants and war victims.
In addition to the veteran block, the department is proposed to be relieved of organizational support for elections and referendums, coordination of the work of executive bodies, municipal enterprises, and institutions in meeting the urgent needs of the community, as well as studying and disseminating the experience of developing other territorial communities.
Instead, the new regulation expands the communication direction. A separate point plans to enshrine the development of communication between the city council and the residents of the Dnipro community, and to the goal of the structure's work - to add the implementation of the city council's information policy, ensuring the openness of its activities and public access to information. Measures to identify and meet the needs of residents in administrative, communal, social, and other services are not removed from the document - they are proposed to be moved from the point about the purpose of work to the list of main tasks.
The project concerns the Department for Local Self-Government, Internal and Information Policy of the Dnipro City Council. If the deputies support it, the new regulation will come into force after the decision is published - at the same time, the previous decision on changing the department's powers, adopted on January 29, 2025, will be declared invalid. The information was published by journalists of Dnipro.media with reference to the draft decision of the city council.
