A significant number of fatalities were found in one of the supermarkets of the "Sonyachna Galereya" shopping mall in Kryvyi Rih - it did not stop operating during the air raid alarm, although local authorities warned about the necessity to do so.
Despite warnings from local authorities to cease operations during air raid alarms, the facility continued to operate. A significant number of deceased people were found there, - stated the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Ivan Vyhivskyi.
On the evening of August 22, police investigators and prosecutors announced suspicion to the director of one of the supermarkets in the shopping center - due to violations of safety measures during the alarm. At the same time, criminal proceedings were opened in Kryvyi Rih regarding official negligence.
Separately, the investigation will check information circulated online about blocked doors to the shelter. This fact has not yet been confirmed by the investigation.
What the police will check
actions of the owners of the "Sonyachna Galereya" shopping mall;
actions of companies renting premises in the shopping center;
whether visitors and employees were properly informed;
whether there was a timely instruction to evacuate the building;
actions of all responsible persons;
approved response algorithms - whether they were adapted to real threats in the frontline region.
