The collection of the exhibition "Museum of Abandoned Cities" in Kamianske has been replenished with a new canvas. Artist Oleksandra Kyrylova painted "Music Without Borders," centered around boundless Space, planet Earth, and musical instruments symbolizing the voices of internally displaced persons. The work conveys three semantic dimensions at once: the scale of pain from loss, the cost of separation from home, and the ability of creativity to endure even amidst ruins.
A meeting that became an impetus
The idea for the painting was born after Kyrylova's personal acquaintance with the musicians of the Mariupol Chamber Orchestra "Renaissance" in Kyiv. This meeting took place during the "I Am Mariupol" exhibition, where the orchestra performed for a Kyiv audience.
The members of "Renaissance" are internally displaced persons. Their native philharmonic hall in Mariupol has been destroyed, and returning to the city has become impossible. However, the orchestra has not ceased its work: musicians continue to perform wherever they find refuge, and their music resonates far beyond Ukraine.
Who is implementing the project
"Museum of Abandoned Cities" is a joint project of the public organization "Kolo Mamaia" and the Museum of the History of Kamianske. It is being implemented with the support of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation.
