A rare plant, which usually avoids large cities, has been discovered on the outskirts of Dnipro, in the Prydniprovsk district.
During a study of the coastal zone, Semydetnyi discovered the marsh orchid (Dactylorhiza incarnata), popularly known as the flesh-colored marsh orchid. The plant grew near the water, although it usually chooses moist open areas, forest swamps, or peat bogs, far from human activity.

This species is listed in the Red Book of Ukraine and is protected by international environmental agreements. Wild orchids are rapidly disappearing due to ecological changes and human factors.
Ecologists urge people not to pick the plant: serious fines are imposed for the destruction or damage of species from the Red Book. The best way to preserve the find is to take a photo without trampling the clearing around it.
