On June 11, Dnipro was hit by a downpour, squally winds, and hail. In several districts of the city, roads were submerged, and trees and branches fell onto the roadway. Some parked cars were damaged. Eyewitnesses, local Telegram channels, and meteorologists reported on the consequences of the bad weather.
“On the afternoon of June 11, Dnipro was covered by bad weather. The sky was covered with black clouds, a strong wind rose, and heavy rain began. Hail was also reported in some areas of the city,” local journalists reported.
Eyewitnesses note that in some cases, trees fell directly on or near parked cars, which could lead to significant material damage for owners. Traffic was complicated by flooded areas and poor visibility. The consequences also included damage to external structures and advertising elements.
On Shevchenko Square, the downpour overloaded the sewage system: sewage, along with water, came out through manholes to the surface. Residents of nearby neighborhoods report a pungent smell in the area.
Meteorologists had previously announced a yellow level of danger for the Dnipropetrovsk region. According to their data, thunderstorm activity is expected until the end of the day. City services urge drivers and pedestrians to stay away from old trees, advertising structures, and other objects that may pose a danger during strong winds.
