A 59-year-old resident of Kamianske received an administrative penalty for damaging a memorial. The police held her accountable under Article 173 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses.
The incident occurred on Sunday morning, August 9. In the Square of Angels of Victory, the woman smashed the glass stands of the Memorial Wall – a structure with photographs of fallen defenders.
Surveillance cameras recorded her repeatedly throwing stones at the stands with portraits of military personnel. After that, the woman threw flowers out of a flowerpot and overturned it onto the ground.
The damaged stands were dismantled. The incident caused concern among citizens and families of the deceased.
The police learned about it on August 10 – during social media monitoring. The information was entered into the unified register of applications and reports of criminal offenses and other incidents, and the woman's identity was established during the verification.
The Kamianske District Police Department urged residents to treat memorial sites associated with the memory of fallen defenders with respect and not to commit acts that violate public order.
