As of August 14, molybdenum and tin are the most expensive metals to sell in Ukraine. Molybdenum is accepted at 1,700 UAH/kg, tin at 1,650-1,700 UAH/kg. Babbit closes the top three.
The prices were collected by Metalolom, a resource that monitors 347 scrap metal collection points across the country. Non-ferrous metals and alloys are traditionally valued highest. The final acceptance price depends on the type of metal, its purity, the volume of the batch, the specific point, and the region.
Upper price range
Babbit B83 (DSTU) - 1,100-1,150 UAH/kg
Solder POS-90 - 890-900 UAH/kg
Solder POS-60 - 720 UAH/kg
Tungsten - 620-800 UAH/kg
Copper, nickel, and related items
Copper - 450-515 UAH/kg
Copper shavings - 410-450 UAH/kg
Copper cable - 400 UAH/kg
Nickel - 380 UAH/kg
Babbit B83 (non-DSTU) - 400-600 UAH/kg
To get a higher price, metals should be sorted by type and parts that cannot be recycled should be removed. Cleaning from dirt can also affect the cost. Selling in large batches and self-transportation reduce carrier costs. For individuals selling household scrap, documents of metal origin are not required - an identity document is sufficient.
Metal theft in Ukraine is a criminal offense. According to Ukrainian law, during martial law, such an offense is punishable by 5 to 8 years of imprisonment.
