In Dnipro, utility workers are updating road markings and installing delineators at several intersections. The work is being carried out in areas with heavy traffic, where there is an increased risk for pedestrians and drivers.
Red-and-white crosswalks
At the intersection of Khersonska and Volodymyr Antonovych streets, three red-and-white pedestrian crossings are being restored. According to Mykhailo Solyarchyn, head of the production department of the "Transport Infrastructure of the City" communal enterprise of the Dnipro City Council, such crossings are used in areas with a high concentration of accidents and near schools and kindergartens.
"We are renewing the road markings of red-and-white pedestrian crossings. There are three of them at this intersection. Such crossings are used in areas with a high concentration of accidents and in very dangerous sections. There are schools and kindergartens nearby, and there is always heavy traffic here,"
— said Mykhailo Solyarchyn.
Another red-and-white crossing is being applied at the intersection of Kryvorizka and Robocha streets after road surface repairs. The marking includes reflective beads that improve visibility in the dark.
"Every pedestrian crossing, regardless of whether it is red-and-white or ordinary, is additionally sprinkled with reflective beads. This allows drivers to see the markings better at night in the light of headlights,"
— added Solyarchyn.
Delineators at complex junctions
At the intersection of Arkhitektora Oleha Petrova and Gogol streets, delineators have been installed – separating elements to organize traffic flows. The head of the production department explained the need for intervention:
"This is quite a complex and busy intersection. There is intense car and tram traffic here, and drivers often violated traffic rules. Delineators help separate traffic flows and reduce the number of dangerous maneuvers,"
— noted Mykhailo Solyarchyn.
Similar structures have already been installed at the intersection of Vykonkomska and Sviatoslava Khorobroho streets. Specialists continue to inspect other urban areas where additional traffic organization may be needed.
Plans for 2026
In 2026, Dnipro plans to apply paint to about 2,000 square meters of pedestrian crossings, update 400 kilometers of road markings with plastic, and install 400 delineators and 34 Berlin cushions – devices for forced speed reduction.
